Re: TT Cuts out
Next time it cuts out try wiggling your gain knob.I've heard the gain pot is a common problem opn these and mine sometimes cuts out like that. The gain pot is getting bad spots were I leave it set most.Sometimes when I adjust up it will get weak and I need to pull on the knob just a little.Works till...

Re: Need a Good Tube Dealer
Surprisingly(to me also) after several years of nos I tried a few newer tubes and while most sucked I actually liked the New Sensor Mule 12ax7 over a real mule, tele, sylvania tungsram and rft 12ax7s in the PI slot. And I ended up canning my beloved Polam el84s for a set of new production el84.Only NOS...

Need a Good Tube Dealer
K guys who is a good reliable tube dealer for new production tubes.Someone who burns them in and tests them. I've been using NOS for a few years now but recently found some new production that work very nicely in my Orange and would like to get a couple extra for my stash. Particularly New Sensor Mu...

Re: OT: M*rshall JCM 900
I dunno I was looking at a DR schematic and it looked to me like the whole gain section and channel switching was done in the SS domain feeding into the 1st half of V1 being the ONLY tube gain stage(I see anyways)the 2nd half of V1 is a cathode driver that feeds the tone stack,V2 is a reverb driver ...

Re: SPEAKER FOR TINY TERROR COMBO?
I have played my TT head through many differant speakers. IMO greenbacks are the cats-@ss with a classic Marshall but were a bit fizzy and lacked presence with the TT. The G12H-30 has a big lowend and a warm full sound with the TT.Best for smoothness and warmth. V30 is another great speaker with the...

Re: OT: M*rshall JCM 900
I was in a band for awhile and the bassist had a JCM 900 50W 2x12 DR with el34s. I played allot of rehearsals on that amp and evan did a couple gigs with it. IMO they are the weakest example of "The Marshall sound". The DR the gain and channel switching come from Solid state the first 12ax7 actually...

Re: Tiny Terror Tube (Valve) Recommendations?
I noticed a big differance switching to NOS powertubes. For me yea NOS is a limited resource but we ain't gonna live forever and I'd rather use my best tubes than use crap and have the NOS tubes sit there useless cause they are worth money. To me the tubes that sound best are best and the ones that d...

Re: New tubes!! OR50h
Orange amps are fine its the cheap crap tubes that are made today. Not Oranges fault. But tubes are really only coming outta two toilets China and Russia oh yea and Slovakian JJ's. But seriously ever held a british, german or american 12ax7 and felt how much thicker the glass is,not to mention the tone...

Re: Pulling tubes (RV100 stuff)
From what i know, when you pull the two outter tubes you need to reset your ohm selector to half of your cabs rating. If you have a 16ohm cab with two tubes pulled you would need to run at 8 ohms on the head. Also don't expect half the volume. It'll be like a 50W head with two tubes pulled slightly low...

Re: Environment, moisture, temp effects on an amp
Honestly equipment should be able to endure temperature changes etc... Ya figure most touring bands the stuff stays in a trailer in all sorts of weather. My PA system sits in cold storage/and or cube vans 365 days a year unless its being gigged,no problems in 11 yrs. One time the van's roof leaked an...

Me and my fiance got a washing machine from my mother. Got some cloths,a plier set. And the fiance got me an Orange ppc112 cab. :D  :D 8) to use in smaller places,as carrying my 4x12 has finally taken its toll on my back. A nice christmas, but most importantly I got to spend anothe...

Re: i need a good cheap speaker cable....
Buy two switchcraft 1/4" jacks and cut the cord off the living room lamp or go get 3ft of 14ga. 2 conductor from Ace hardware. As good or better than what Monster puts out.And if you'd like i can hype it up for ya as much as Monster does there stuff.

Re: least fav amp sound/tone????
Marshall JCM 900 Duel Reverb. It took a 69' Marshall cab Mullards and Telefunkens just to get average tones outta it. Now the JCM900 SL-X is a differant story, nice amp. Another amp I owned/hated was a 2554 1x12 Marshall Jubilee, about 1/10% better than the DR. Had a 5150 for all of a month.OK for hea...

Re: NOS Tubes vs. Re-Issued Russian Glass
If people took the time to figure out how to play better than the amount of time they spent on tubes... we'd have a lot better players in the world huh? Obviously practice makes perfect and no amount of tubes, guitars or pedals will make a mediocre player sound like Dickey Betts or VH etc..... But l...
