Long Time, No Speak

For some reason I thought that this forum was kaput. So happy to find that is not the case. I'm still pretty Oranged-up, what with two OBC-15s, two of the new ultra-light 1x12's and a Bass Terror 500. Along with the AD200 that was handwired as shown in Premier Guitar magazine. The AD-200 is in use a...

Re: AD 200b MK3 super quiet

I'm surprised by this. In my humble experience, you find the gain setting you like, for me 10 for clean, 1 o'clock for dirty and then use the master for volume. Last summer I played at a big outdoor show with backline provided. When I went to use the provided SVT, the amp failed. Luckily I had toted...

Re: AD200 issues

Right you are, my friends. :( :( :( But the buyer tracked me down because he really wanted this particular amp so it's going to a very welcoming home! And it just happened that I am leaving a heavy gigging band so it may have sat around for a while. Nonetheless, what a beautifully constructed amp it...

Re: AD200 issues

Anyway, in a moment of temporary insanity, I sold that amp today.

I'll be left with a Bass Terror and three Orange bass cabs. Pretty stupid, if I may say it myself.

Re: AD200 issues

I've heard others say that one should solder in speaker wires. I do it when I'm feeling ambitious..... Re: What is unity on EQ for Orange AD200B?

!!! Didn't I read here that a "flat" setting had the bass at 11 and the others somewhere else? (I forgot where.) Totally different from I am reading here. Just curious.

That said, the advice to dial in your own tone is, of course, sound.

Re: Terror bass 500W connected two cabinets

Thaks Johntheid. That's a cool solution. But remember that it only works IF you use the special speaker cord adapter he pointed to. That looks like a better solution than converter cables that you'll forget or mix up at a show. I guess $30 is cheaper than a new set of speaker cabs. As long as you ar...

Re: Terror bass 500W connected two cabinets

Either way it is 2 ohms.

(I believe there may be special cables that put the cabs into series. BUT I've never used one or even seen one.)

Re: OTB - Terror Bass Problem

Thanks Andy. I appreciate you sharing your wisdom. I'm not so worried about the speaker cab anymore. I really cranked a Steinberger through it tonight and it sounded just fine. I was very pleased. My old Guilds must just overload it on one frequency. I've encountered that kind of thing before. Amp: ...

Re: OTB - Terror Bass Problem

Thanks Andy. But I wonder if the protective circuit on any class D amp would kick in less if the signal was compresed?

Anyway, it looks like I'll have to try and contact the folks at Orange central.

Re: OTB - Terror Bass Problem

Thanks Mr Hun. Very informative. I'd like to try a compressor, though I'm hoping some of the other posters who complained of the cutting out have one and will give it a try before I go buy another one. We mainly play with a good FOH, my stage rig is pretty much a fancy monitor. (Unlike the kids over...

Re: OTB - Terror Bass Problem

Well, duh... Maybe. Attention Terrorfied, Punchclock, ciffy and Kyle Lash: Do any of you use a compressor? I wonder if a compressor would reduce or eliminate the problem we've encountered? Of course, I sold a beautiful Trace Eliot dual compressor pedal I owned years ago so I don't have one to try. A...

Re: OTB - Terror Bass Problem

This whole thread is a bit disconcerting. I've noticed something like that now and then as well. It's annoying since I bought it as a backup for my AD200. Now it seems like it is the less reliable one. In fact, I snagged a little Fender Rumble head to back up the back up head. Now aint that crazy? I...

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for!
