Re: tube tap test
Any tube that dies after being tapped by a pencil probably wouldn't have survived long in an amp anyway, especially not a gigging one. Yes true but my "wacking" tubes when I first started swapping tubes some years back, just to "test" them caused what was a decent sounding Sylvania to become a Howli...

Re: Amps are like women
I dunno how true this is? My amp has never yelled at me for spending the rent on more guitar gear.

Re: tube tap test
Just so ya know if the amp isn't howling or making weird overtones or anything at higher volume, don't tap the tubes I ruined a NOS JAN Sylvania 12ax7 doing the #2 pencil thing. Longplates tend to be more prone to microphonics than shortys but still...best to not fix it if it ain't broke as far as mi...

Re: Hardware store surge Protector and furman PL8
I dunno I don't have any nice power conditioners either just a rack mount surge strip on my FOH system. Were you asking about plugging a surge strip into a conditioner?? I'm not sure but I wouldn't do it. I know if you plug a GFI into a GFI it can sometimes cause false trips and/or inproper function...

Re: What's on you pedalboard and what do you use it for?
Vox V847 wah- modded for true bypass, use it for certain leads and the rare funky choppin wah rythms Boss SD-1-I run my amp at a light crunch and slam it w/ the SD-1 for OD most of my rock leads have SD-1 on them. Digitech X series delay-for Jimmy page type echo on certian leads especially minor key ...

Re: Your favorite delay?
I like the digitech X series delay. All I use it for is the echo(mode 4) as another"set it and forget it guy"I use it for Jimmy Page type trails on leads,I find the sound very good has that natural "tapey" decay on the repeats I like. I only use it for a few songs in a night and a couple leads here ...

Re: problem with the tone control knob (tiny terror)
Not sure what your asking, but I find the tone on my TT sweet spot around 6.5-7 above that it gets more highs but gets a little harsh. Below 5 is too muttled to me. It won't change the tone drastic but more less kinda dampenens the highs. Ya figure most EQ systems like Marshalls are tube driven off t...

Re: Using Orange tubes in other amps?
There are only 3 places tubes are made now. China(shuaguang)Czech (JJ) and Russia (Sovtek/New Sensor) Oranges tubes are just rebrands of one of those. Allthough they may have there own screening process to meet their certain spec demands, like groove tubes has.

Re: Wet-Dry setup TT
To each his own.....but it sounds like allot more wiring than I'd want to do at a show for a little reverb and FX . I'd just string um in front of the input like the old days and call it a day,but that is just me.

Re: Muddy tiny terror
I feel your pain.I can't run my gain past 6 so I use a stomp in front with really good results for lower volume. I swapped some caps to thin it out and that helped.Couplers and cathode bypass caps on the gain stages. One thing I've found especially w/ the TT is adjust for tone and add gain after the...

Re: NOS valves/tubes... any good in Orange amps?
I had an I63 mullard in my TT for awhile there is something I loved about its bluesy smoothness, but it got to be too fat and the thrill wore off and I swapped it out. BTW I63 doesn't mean 1963 that is a code for the later 60s early 70s mullards ,I61 was the late 50s early 60s code and MC1 was the lo...

TT Volume sweet spot
I've had my TT for 4yrs now.I is the 1st and only el84 amp I've owned.I generally like to run my old el34 heads up to get a smooth bluesy rock crunch, not complete raging powertube distortion. But I notice on my TT that I can really only run the volume at 2 1/2 - 3 on 15W anymore than that,it gets thi...
