- Topic: how to mic a piano

First off, upright or grand? You should be able to get some fairly good representations of the instruments with the microphones you've mentioned although piano is most typically recorded using a matched stereo pair. We kinda need a little more information in regards to the type of piano you are reco...

Now you guys have got me wondering...the manual for the rockerverb series doesn't mention rectifier valves. I've been meaning to order tubes for my combo, so I guess I should pop it open to see if there's a rectifier inside...not that I'll really need to replace it...in general the whole orange oper...

Nick...GUKs (R.I.P.)...Nice... I have a Peavey 30 Classic and it's really a great amp, but I'm leaning away from it for the clips and looking more towards the Laney although I don't have much experience with them...it's really a difficult call without a standard in terms of frequency response with r...
I'm in the same boat with Nick...although I've only had to swap out a cable here and there, I've always thought of it as an investment. Alsom I've always kinda liked the feel of the oversized monster connecters...really snug fit, decent fidelity cable, horrible build. I typically solder my own studi...

If you are interested in amp classes, I would recommend stopping over by mesa boogie's website. Randall Smith recently posted a pdf on the front page concerning the hype of classes, etc. and it was a rather good, informative read. Most of his technical docs tend to be great for laymen. Might be righ...

Let us know how the price comparison stacks up...I've been really happy with my cases (I've gotten three now), I've had no problems with design (really live up to the anvil standards and fit my amps extremely securely, nice and snug, can't put a cover on the amp and slide the lid on) aside from the ...

My cases for my ad30tc, my rockerverb combo, and my mesa markIII combo were all purchased from affordable-cases (barry cases) and I'm pretty sure the combo cases were a little over $300 with max specs (half-inch with four inch casters) which isn't too bad considering I was comparing them to Anvil/Ca...

Thanks for the soundclips orangenoise...I'm really interested in the Rockerverb series, it seems to alleviate most of the minor downfalls I have with my ad30tc. Just wondering which damping selection you chose for the recording and how you feel it effects the response of the low end...may account fo...

Quick question along this topic... What is the purpose of the metal preamp covers and are they really necessary? My combo really likes to get the springs/caps vibrating when I start to open it up. I've tried adjusting them to alleviate the problem, but the best solution is to not use them at all. Is...

Billy, I'm mostly playing through a Explorer reissue, occasionally a semi-hollow, tele or strat. The explorer is my main (favorite) guitar and the pickups haven't been adjusted from factory height. I only tend to notice the ghosting in a group setting after about 30-45 minutes of playing. It really ...

Nick and Andy...thanks again for all the info (users like you are what make this forum what it is)...when I used the term ghost notes I wasn't aware that it was an actual technical term, but simply seemed to be an accurate description of what I was experiencing. I haven't yet tried it with other cab...
